| Lobbying, Advocacy, and Outreach |
- An important objective of our Trust is to ensure that important policies and laws enacted by the Central Government or State Government are not transgressed. These include policies and laws related to:
- Equitable distribution of water
- Integrated river-basin management and planning
- Forest and biodiversity conservation
- Protection of natural and man-made heritage
- Land-use and 'development control' regulations
- Pollution control regulations
- Prevention of cruelty to animals
Towards this objective, we
- hold special workshops and conferences and an annual lecture to create public wareness
- Give critical inputs to government agencies
- demand implementation of key elements of policies and laws which ensure the achievement of their envisaged outcome
- publish position papers, books, and release press-notes on issues of local and national interest
- create networks, fora, and platforms for negotiations for local and national 'civic actions', public hearings, etc.
- file Public Interest Writ Petitions (PILs) and court cases for defending the rights of the poorest and tribal communities, and the rights of natural ecosystems,
- convene and host international conferences on water and sustainable development issues.
